Asbestos in Schools
August 10th, 2011 | Paul Webber
The presence of asbestos in schools is in the news again. Campaigner Michael Lees estimates 140 teachers have succumbed to Mesothelioma in the last 10 years, a staggering number which again confirms that even small doses of asbestos exposure can cause Mesothelioma. If school teachers can develop Mesothelioma from working in school buildings, then naturally so can school children. This was particularly evident in the case of Dianne Willmore, who successfully argued that she was negligently exposed to asbestos as a pupil. She subsequently contracted Mesothelioma in her late 40s.
More must be done to prevent future cases of Mesothelioma from asbestos in schools.
